Miss Your Car Service And You Put Your Life At Risk

full car service on car brake hosesWhen money gets a bit tight one of the things motorists skip on doing is a full car service.

It’s one of those things because you don’t actually see the benefit of doing it. You think you can give it a miss this year.

And let’s face it if your car’s running ok it’s easy to let the service go by, especially when you know it’s going to cost you, at the bare minimum, a couple of hundred pounds for the service. And that’s if no real work has to be done on it.

Here’s the thing though. When it comes time to sell your car, being able to say it comes with a full service history will easily offset the cost of the service.

Many buyers won’t even look at a car without a full history and those that do will drive a harder bargain to get a cheaper price. Your service history will definitely have an effect on your car’s resale value.

The cost of a full service is nothing compared to an accident

But that’s only the monetary cost of not getting your annual full service. The biggest risk you’re taking is that something vital could be about to fail and you won’t know about it until it’s too late.

The thing with modern cars is, the days of you getting dirty and going under the car to fix something are almost over. Plus if you did go under there unless you know what you’re looking for you probably wouldn’t spot the problem anyway.

A good example of this are cracked brake hoses. Do you know what cracked brake hoses look like and whether they need to be changed?

So you could be driving along thinking everything’s fine with the car and have no idea that the hose or hoses are cracked. But if you have to brake suddenly and your brake hoses aren’t up to scratch. The extra pressure on the brakes could cause them to fail.

It’s not a situation you want to find yourself in and it’s why even though money might be tight and the service isn’t cheap. Getting a full car service is the one thing to do with owning a car that you just don’t want to skip.
